Arsenal Beat Man City To Win Community Shield

Arsenal won the Community Shield on penalties after Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri missed penalties.

Arsenal’s new signings, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Lloren Timber, began but failed to make a real impact as City won. Havertz challenged Stefan Ortega twice in the first half but was unable to convert any of his chances.

The breakthrough came after Pep Guardiola made a number of changes, with the arrival of De Bruyne and Palmer, tying the pair together to give City the win when Palmer converted it in the 77th minute.

But drama struck in the final minutes of the game when Leandro Trossard equalized in the 11th minute of stoppage time.

As the tie headed straight to penalties, De Bruyne was first for City, after converting Martin Odegaard – and the Belgian’s effort broke against the crossbar.

Striker Trossard followed suit and sent Ortega the wrong way to take his kick before Bernardo Silva followed suit and did the same.
Bukayo Saka coolly scored as Arsenal were in control.

Rodri was City’s next man but was saved by Aaron Ramsdal. Fabio Vieira’s shot into the top corner gave Arteta the win.
