Jose Benavidez Sr. Believes Jermell Charlo is more focused on sports than Canelo Alvarez and will send the indisputably wealthy/super-entrepreneur
Middleweight Champion until his third career loss on September 30 on Showtime PPV.
Canelo chose Jermell at 154 pounds with the express goal of improving his chances of winning all four belts. Benavidez Fr. This is considered a pure selection for Canelo and it is considered unfair to combine the weight classes below him to select opponents.
. Like many people, Jose Fr. He believes Canelo should defend his four belts against hard-working opponents like his son David Benavidez, who has had a WBC mandatory belt for two years and has yet to get a chance to compete. Jose Fr. He thought the loss would be a bitter pill for Canelo (59-2-2, 39 KOs) to swallow, but he can only blame himself as his attention is drifting more and more away from boxing along with his favorite pastime, golf.
Canelo plays golf a lot, which he reportedly watched during training camp. But it’s not just Canelo’s preference that is likely to see him lose out to Jermell.
The main reason is that Canelo has a lot of bad habits like being inactive, always looking for one-punch knockouts so he can go to bed early and not need to go 12 rounds. Jermell has nothing to lose
“Man, I don’t think it’s fair for anyone to do whatever they want in boxing. If it were my choice, I would have [a boxer] fight 147 or 154 fights. With David Benavidez. Will it be fair or good? Jose Benavidez Sr. said.
He told MillCity Boxing, he complained that Canelo Alvarez fought 154-pound boxer Jermel Charlo on Sept. 30. Of course what Canelo does is unfair, picking fighters from lower weight classes than he is for self-defense, but boxing is not well managed for champions to do such things to stay afloat.
Some would say that Canelo’s popularity is what allows him to do things other champions can’t. He’s at the forefront of the sport as the face of boxing, and with that position there are benefits.
“I don’t even think it will be useful for boxing. Jose Sr. said “I think you have to stand your ground, fight Charlo and fight Spence two bands”.
“If you want to fight these people, why don’t you lose weight? Why would you want someone to come to a 168 or 165 somewhere around?”
“I don’t think it’s fair, but [Canelo] people can do whatever they want.
I don’t like it very much. I can’t stand this. I don’t think that’s fair. Of course he has a chance. He has nothing to lose. He is a young man from 154 to 168 years old.
It would be a shame if 154 beat 168, but Charlo has nothing to lose. If he loses, he’s a little guy. He has nothing left to lose but I think if he beats Canelo it will be very bad for Canelo’s history.
For him, his attempt to make boxing history would be a really bad legacy.
“He’s a little more focused than Canelo. Benavidez Sr. said. speak. “At the moment he is really enjoying golf. I think he has a lot of money. In my opinion, I don’t think the motivation is there anymore.
Is Canelo’s hobby in golf destroy his career? Well, that definitely didn’t help.
If you have a guy who dreams of becoming a professional golfer on the PGA Tour, he’s not the best at boxing.
“I think he has a lot of business to take care of, and when you have a lot of business, sometimes you can’t sleep because you make a lot of money, but then you lose a lot of money,” Jose said. SR.
“Nobody likes to lose, so I guess he’s not 100 percent focused on boxing. 100, and we’ve seen that in his last four matches. Jeremiel, I think the only thing he does is box. I don’t think he plays any other sport. He’s focused on a big chance, a big chance of beating Canelo Alvarez.
“I’m going to be honest with you. I think, in my opinion, Jeremiel will defeat him. I see Jermel hits him with the points. I don’t think he’ll stop it, but he’s skilled. If he’s out there and boxing, I think he looks cooler and lighter.
“I believe in movement and strength on the day of battle. I see Jermel winning the decision,” Jose Sr.
Big Charlo lost to Canelo
“Jermol, I don’t think so. Now it’s different over there. Every time I see him, he’s still drinking and going through a lot in his life. Benavidez Sr. said.
“I don’t know. It seems so. He hadn’t fought for nearly two or three years. So there must be something going on there. I think his brother Jermel has a better chance of beating Canelo Alvarez.
“Jermol, in my opinion, was definitely stopped by Canelo Alvarez.”
Given the way Jermall looks in some of his Youtube videos, one wonders if he’ll ever fight again. He seemed ragged and mentally ill. He scorned Jermal in his last fight with Juan Macías Montiel, and that was two years ago. You can’t have that inactive style and go back to the shape you used to have.
“I couldn’t believe it. Caleb Plant is becoming a mean guy,” said Benavidez Sr. when asked about his thoughts on Caleb Plant slapping Jermall Charlo.
“I like him. I couldn’t believe it. I saw that over and over because it was so fast. Hopefully, they can make that fight. I’m with Caleb Plant. I’m a fan of Caleb Plant, brother.
“I’m hoping, and hopefully, that fight [Plant vs. Jermall Charlo] happens. Yeah, I’m a fan man because he did prove a lot when he fought David Benavidez and he fought Canelo.
“He keeps coming, and he showed that he’s a true champion and sometimes it doesn’t matter if you win or lose.
“Look at UFC; as long as you give a good show and don’t run from nobody, you’re going to have my respect,” said Jose Sr. about Plant.
